The couple, Tzu Wei and Jocina have been together for approximately 4 and a half years before their engagement. They met way back in 2010 when Tzu Wei was Jocina’s hall senior during her freshman camp in Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
When asked if there was an exact moment he realised he wanted to marry her, Tzu Wei replied that “there wasn’t, but after being together for a year, I knew she was the one for me”.
Tzu Wei wished to propose overseas as he wanted it to be a more intimate occasion. They were going on a short vacation to Korea and he decided to do it then, on the 9th of September 2016.

With that, he went onto OneThreeOneFour to look for photographers in Korea. After booking his chosen photographer, Tzu Wei began discussions on the proposal locations and the overall plan.
To start things off, the photographer recommended a list of proposal spots for Tzu Wei. Our photographers also enthusiastically decorated the proposal spot with pictures that Tzu Wei mailed over. The Korean photography team even bought a bouquet of roses for their special day!
Upon arrival at the proposal spot, Tzu Wei whipped out an iPad and in it, was a video montage prepared painstakingly for Jocina. It had taken him a couple of months to prepare the video which consists of two parts, the first being a slideshow timeline of the years they’ve been together. And the second had snippets of video clips of their friends and family holding up a sign that read “Say Yes to Tzu”.
“In Korea, I had to wait almost a week for the proposal day. As such, I had to hide the ring, hide any message notifications from family, friends and OneThreeOneFour about the proposal.”
Despite how much time they spent together as a couple, Jocina did not suspect a thing while the proposal was being planned. She was really touched as Tzu Wei had to pick up video editing from scratch in order to compile the entire proposal video for her.
“All of these emotions started coming up and you just start reflecting on how far you’ve come as together a couple. To be taking this huge step forward together.”

Tzu Wei found the planning and preparation a challenge but says “If it’s for the right person, it should feel like the best thing you could ever do for her.”
